CHARNWOOD ISLAND III BLU WOOD BURNING STOVE
With a tested output of 12kW the Charnwood Island III wood burning stove is one of the highest output free standing stoves that you can buy and it is therefore going to require a very large living space or open plan area to make the most of its generous heat. Depending on the fuel load the Island III can also operate efficiently at around 8kW right up to 16kW to provide some practical flexibility. The Island III’s fire chamber will easily handle seasoned logs at just over half a metre long to provide you with a stunning full width flame picture which can be enjoyed through the particularly large air washed windows.
In terms of efficiency, at 79% the Charnwood Island III just misses out on an A+ rating but importantly, for a large stove, it will still be very economical to run and with the environmental benefits of producing significantly lower emissions than those required by the new Ecodesign emissions regulations. This has led it to being awarded of a Level 2 rating in the ClearSkies independently verified emissions and efficiency scheme. With the optional smoke reduction kit fitted you will also be able to use the Island III as a Defra Smoke Exempt appliance and legally burn wood in a smoke control area (most urban centres).
Designed and built on the Isle of Wight the Island III is constructed from 5 and 10mm thick plate steel with fine cast iron doors and fire grate. The Island III’s doors, with their clean lines, robust hinges and minimal window frames, feature just one stylish cool touch handle with a fail-safe closing mechanism which will allow you to safely and securely close both doors using just one hand. Definitely a big plus point for a stove with double doors. The Island III features Charnwood’s patented Quattroflow air management system with its single user friendly push-pull control. This system delivers the correct mix of air above and below the fire grate to ensure clean and efficient combustion of your fuel choice. It will also give you much quicker starting fires as well as maintain a clear view of the flames through the large glass air washed area right up until the fire has gone out.
With the Charnwood Island III you also get a choice of graceful low or high legs or handy store stand as well as eight different tasteful colours. Its understated styling means that this will be a stove that will be equally at home in a traditional or modern setting. With the optional side convection panels that will not only help move the warm air around the room but also reduce the safe distances to combustible materials at the side to just 335mm, the Island III will also make a great free standing stove with a big visual presence. If you need to install the Island III with a vertical rear flue then Charnwood also offer a space-saving 7” (175mm) rear flue adaptor which will take up significantly less space than a T-piece or swept bend and can still be swept through the stove. The Island III meets the UK building regulations requirements for installation on a 12mm non-combustible decorative hearth and also has external air supply capability when the optional direct air manifold is specified.
For a more traditional looking alternative to the Island III you should also take a look at the Stovax Stockton 11 which also features double doors and has a 150mm (6”) flue outlet. XXXXXXXXXXX LINK
