The DOVRE 640 Wood Burning Stove is a traditional wood burning stove in every sense of the word. It is not only traditionally styled but it is also big and powerful and features Dovre's renowned premium all-cast iron construction – all 25 stone of it (158kg). With its side wall detailing, gently curved ash lip and convenient additional side loading door it's a rare thing of beauty too.
TheDOVRE 640 Wood Burning Stove has a wide heat output range from a lowly 3kW up to a very generous 11kW, depending on the size of he fuel load. The nominal output of 9kW will need a large living space in something like a big Georgian or Victorian house to feel perfectly at home and where its abundant heat will be free to make a serious dent on freezing winter's days. However, with a miserly 3kW fuel load the Dovre 640 offers you a practical heat solution when it's not quite so cold too. Direct external air supply is standard which will help cut down on cold draughts and as you'd expect from a high quality modern stove there is a highly effective airwash system to keep the big gently arched window clean. There are two separate slider controls positioned just below the fire chamber for primary booster air for quicker lighting and secondary air for flame and airwash control.
In terms of its looks, with its faux ash pan door and elegant long legs, the DOVRE 640 Wood Burning Stove's appearance is tastefully done and its nod to traditional stove design is restrained to the point so that this a beautifully proportioned wood burner that would very easily look equally imposing in a large contemporary barn conversion or loft. The Dovre 640 is also a stove that meets today's demands for low emission, cleaner burning combustion combined with the high efficiency that will make this high output stove economical to run. It will handle half metre long logs with no problem, which will be incredibly labour-saving if you harvest and saw your own logs.
If you have a particularly wide inglenook or larger fireplace opening then you should also check out the wide bodied Dover 760 wood burner which is nearly 5" wider (120mm).
