We have no trouble in saying that this handsome wood burner from Saltfire will give many of its highly priced competetors a real run for their money whatever way you choose to look at it.
To begin with the Bignut 5 has a much larger than average window area to maximise its visual impact even when installed within a big fireplace opening. The superior airwash system and three separate combustion air controls ensure that the glass wil always stay clear and that you will also have total control of the wonderful flame patterns and the generous 2.0kW to 8.0kW maximum heat output range. Fast Flame lighting also makes it very easy to start so that you can quickly take advantage of this heat.
The exterior design features a subtle blend of the traditional with some gently contemporary curves to ensure that your Bignut 5 will look equally at home in a traditional or contemporary setting. The all-cast iron constructed bodywork, door and lid weighs in at approximately 110kg making it one of the heaviest 5kW stoves that we know of. Once its up to full operating tempearture the Bignut 5 will use its heavy heat sink provide you with abundant slow release heat well into the small hours and long after the fire has gone out.
The Defra Approved Bignut 5 has an A+ rated efficiency of 80.1% and has also achieved a very credible Level 4 in the new independently verified clearSkies emissions scheme making it a very air quality friendly choice for the conscientious home owner.
NB It's worth noting that both the 8.0kW Bignut 8 and the Bignut 5 share exactly the same bodywork. The Bignut 5 has a slightly smaller firechamber because it features a secondary lining of vermiculite panels as well as its cast iron firebricks. This makes for a more efficient firechamber and helps put more heat through the glass and into the room.
