Don't let the low price put you off – this is a modern stove that's every bit as good as stoves costing early twice as much. For starters, the Peanut 5 wood burner is an exceptionally environmentally friendly clean burning stove. Not only is it Defra Smoke Exempt and 2022 Ecodesign Ready it has also achieved the very top level for low emissions in the new independently verified clearSkies scheme.
It is also exceptionally well made and, unsually for a newly designed stove, it features long-lasting all-cast iron construction (80kg of it) – not just the door or even the lid but all of the bodywork, including the firebricks. This tried and trusted traditional construction makes an exceptional heat sink to deliver you many hours of slow-release heat when the fire dies down – much better for this than a steel-bodied stove.
One of the first things that you notice about the Peanut 5 with its simple contemporary lines is just how large the window is compared to other 5.0kW stoves and provided you only burn seasoned wood this is kept crystal clear with Saltfire's superior airwash system. The firechamber easily takes standard 10" (250mm) logs and the heat output range of 1.5kW to 5.0kW is totally controllable with three separate controls (including one for Tertiary Air).
