Specifically designed for the UK and Irish markets, Wiking offer their Ecodesign compliant, Defra Approved Mini 2 wood burner in a choice of three heights – low plinth, short leg and high leg and it can also be wall-mounted. Whatever version you choose the Mini 2 combines the very best in clean combustion technology with beautifully understated contemporary Danish design. The Mini 2 also features, unusually as standard, the user-friendly tried and tested Wiking Automatic combustion air management system which regulates the supply of primary air to make it easier to light the fire. This also makes the stove more efficient and environmentally friendly at the beginning and end of the burn cycle by automatically varying the primary air supply as required thus minimising the potential to create smoke. The main single push / pull air control at the fire chamber base then allows you to precisely regulate the flame pattern and room heat when the stove is at operational temperature.
The Mini 2's fire chamber is lined with 5 dense precision moulded tightly fitting and highly insulating vermiculite panels which allow the quick build up of heat in the firebox for cleaner burning and improved efficiency (up to 83%). The flat fire chamber base is constructed of longer-lasting premium quality cast iron. In terms of appearance the Mini 2 is unfussy and understated and as you'd expect for a modern stove there's an impressively large window which is kept clean with a very effective pre-heated airwash system (but only if you burn fully seasoned logs). This means that the Mini 2's neutral design, because most of the subtle curved front is window, will look equally great in a contemporary or traditional fireplace setting. There's a big cool-touch door handle which works with Wiking's superior easy-close locking mechanism to pull the stove door firmly against the frame to make an air-tight seal every time. This, and the direct external air connection option, make the Mini 2 an ideal stove for well-insulated and low-energy homes.
The high leg version is suitable for use on a 12mm decorative hearth. However, because the fire chamber is much closer to the ground for safety the Mini 2 plinth and short leg versions require a constructional hearth (subject to building regulations). The standard paint finish is traditional black with an optional finish in dark grey. If using the rear fitting flue option, and you let us know at the time of ordering, then we can supply a 8mm thick steel decorative cover plate to fit on the top of the stove at no extra cost. You can also specify either a 125mm / 5" flue outlet (standard) or 150mm / 6" (optional) for the same price. The Wiking Mini 2 is made in the Hwam factory which is now in its fourth decade and has a well-deserved reputation for producing outstanding innovative stoves – they also make world-beating Dan Skan stoves, for example. The Mini 2 is also a Hetas Approved Appliance and carries a five year extended manufacturer's warranty (subject to terms and conditions).
