There are two DIBt tested 4.9kW Wiking Miro wall-mounted wood burning stoves to chose from. The WIKING Miro 1 Wall Mounted has side windows and the Miro 2 has solid sides. The hallmark of all Wiking stoves is their particularly large windows and that also goes for the contemporary styled WIKING Miro 1 Wall Mounted which also has the advantage of featuring matching full height side windows. These are designed and slightly angled to deliver you a striking 180º+ view of the fire chamber so that wherever you are in the room you'll be able to get the full benefit of all of the wonderful flame patterns it produces.
The WIKING Miro 1 Wall Mounted's DIBt tested status (in fact it's the same all Miro stoves) means that you can safely install this stove in a passive house, AECB Carbonlite home or any house with MVHR without fear of spillage of any fumes or smoke (subject to BS8303 spillage safety tests). In order to do this you will also need to purchase Wikings optional direct external air supply (DEAS) fresh air kit. The air inlet on the WIKING Miro 1 Wall Mounted model can be connected from the rear so that any non combustible ducting can concealed.
The WIKING Miro 1 Wall Mounted is Defra approved to allow you to legally burn wood in a Smoke Control Area (most UK urban areas) and its emissions are also significantly lower than those required to pass the strict new Ecodesign regulations. These clean burning credentials are aided by the Wiking Automatic which comes as standard. This automatically boosts the supply of primary combustion air when lighting and refuelling and at the end of the burn cycle which is when stoves tend to produce additional smoke. The extra supply of combustion air keeps the fire chamber hotter so that more particulates are burned off. Pre-heated tertiary air (the little jets on the fire chamber back wall) again supply extra air to promote further combustion and greater efficiency. Flame height and heat level is controlled by the discreet slider just under the door and the door itself is perfectly balanced and incorporates Wiking's unique effortless closing mechanism which ensures a safe 100% room seal every time.
The WIKING Miro 1 Wall Mounted's fire chamber is something rather special too. You need to compare it to a competitor stove to see exactly what we mean. There is no rough and ready course-grained vermiculite inside the Miro. Instead Wiking have precisely engineered a set of densely compressed and moulded vermiculite panels, designed to fit tightly and maximise the insulation that promote the higher temperatures that are essential for cleaner burning. Cold corners which drag temperatures down have also been eliminated. There's a longer lasting cast iron grate and underneath it an ash pan for easier cleaning.
The WIKING Miro 1 Wall Mounted model is some 120mm taller than the lower priced Mini 2 wall mounted stove and this is completely given over to increasing the height of all three Miro 1 windows along with its fire chamber. What you get with the Miro 1 is a beautifully proportioned, extremely well made wood burner that's all about providing a great view of the fire through the airwashed windows with absolutely no visual clutter, save for the big stay safe, cool-touch handle.
